Staff Sgt. Samuel Beltram, of 2nd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion, who is supporting Marines with 3rd Bn., 4th Marine Regiment, instructs a member of the Afghan Uniform Police on advanced improvised explosive device detection and reduction here, June 19, 2013. Marines with 2nd EOD provided members of the Afghan Uniform Police’s explosive hazard reduction team with 12 days of training focused on the confirmation of potential IEDs. Beltram, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, said working with the Afghan police was a rewarding experience. “These guys stay engaged the whole time—they’re constantly thanking us,” said Beltram. “It’s a great feeling to leave knowledge here and possibly prevent more guys from getting hurt.”
