U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment descend onto Tagaytay Ridge, Luzon, Philippines, Feb. 3, 1945, during the second serial of the airborne assault. Aircraft departed from San Jose, Mindoro, delivering elements of the regiment in multiple serials on Feb. 3–4. The drop marked the highest elevation airborne operation in the Pacific Theater during World War II and enabled follow-on ground movement along Highway 17 toward Manila.
