Maj. Jon Burd looks out from an F-15 cockpit at a cheering crowd June 18 at the Fresno Air National Guard Base. Burd had just landed the first of 21 F-15s that will be replacing the 144th Fighter Wing's F-16s which have performed the wing's homeland air defense mission since 1989.
