Infantrymen serving with the Canadian Army’s Royal 22nd Regiment provide security from a cleared building as other teams breach buildings at a training town here during Dawn Blitz 2013, June 17. The soldiers demonstrated their urban operational skills to Marines serving with 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, as they cleared one and two-story buildings, stairwells and alleyways throughout the training town. After the Canadian soldiers were finished clearing the town, the Marines shared tips and techniques they have used successfully in combat to help improve the Canadian’s skill set. Dawn Blitz 2013 is a scenario-driven exercise designed to test Navy and Marine Corps forces at the Marine Expeditionary Brigade (MEB) and Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) level, while promoting military-to-military cooperation and interoperability with partnered nations.
