U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Bradford J. Gering, right, the 38th Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, learns the capabilities and limitations of the Dronebuster from Sgt. Rhett Stephens, a machine gunner with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), in the San Diego sector, Calif., Feb. 18, 2026. The Dronebuster is a handheld non-kinetic mitigation device that can detect groups of one to five unmanned aircraft systems and jam the signal between the drone and its controller. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
