Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, center, readministers the oath of office to Maj. Gen. Matthew S. Woodruff, Ohio adjutant general, during Woodruff’s promotion ceremony at the Maj. Gen. Robert S. Beightler Armory in Columbus, Ohio, Feb. 27, 2026. Woodruff, who was promoted to the rank of major general, began his military career in May 1990, when he enlisted as a medical specialist in the U.S. Army Reserves, and later commissioned in 1996 as an infantry officer through the Bowling Green State University Army ROTC.
