Fort Benning leaders, community members, and the family of the late Command Sgt. Maj. Edward “Eddie” Crook Jr. gather for a dedication ceremony at Sand Hill, Fort Benning, Ga., Feb. 27, 2026. The event honored the Georgia native, a 1960 Olympic champion and decorated combat veteran, by naming the Sand Hill Soldier Performance Readiness Center after him.
