PCU John F. Kennedy (CVN 79)

Sailors aboard Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) use an aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) hose to simulate combating a class bravo fire during an at-sea fire party drill in the hangar bay, Jan. 23, 2026. At-sea fire party drills are critical to shipboard survivability and crew readiness in shipboard casualty response. John F. Kennedy is the second Ford-class aircraft carrier and is under construction at HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division in Newport News, Virginia.
