Edinburg, Texas (Jan. 30, 2026) Rear Admiral David J. Faehnle pays a visit to Barrientes Middle School where he presents a Challenge Coin to Sergeant Francisco Barrientes of the US Army (1968 - 1971) in recognition of his courage and honor during the Vietnam War, where he received two purple hearts and the bronze star. Admiral Faehnle also took time to talk to students and answer questions about the Navy as well as his Navy career. Faehnle and Sergeant Barrientes are pictured above posing for a photo with the Barrientes Middle School Faculty as well as the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Barrientes Middle School Cheerleading Squad.
