U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Justin Liberman, a platoon commander with 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, feeds a moose while participating in a cultural day in Kalix, Sweden, Jan. 18, 2026. The purpose of Winter Warfare Course is to train ground forces in a variety of cold-weather subjects, including skiing, how to use pulk sleds, develop winter fighting positions, camouflage and concealment, and several other areas that are vital in order to survive and operate in a cold-weather environment.
