A Latvian sailor assigned to LVNS Viesturs (A-53) renders honors to the amphibious command ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), as the ship departs Ventspils, Latvia in support of exercise Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) 2013. Now in its 41st year, BALTOPS 2013 is an annual, multinational exercise to enhance maritime capabilities and interoperability with partner nations to promote maritime safety and security in the Baltic Sea.
