A Universal Static Line Modified hangs free from an anchor line cable of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter as a U.S. Green Beret assigned to 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), gives jump commands during an airborne operation at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, Dec. 3, 2025. The Group hosts the annual Menton Jump in commemoration of the First Special Service Force, the predecessor to modern Special Forces, which was disbanded 1944 in Menton, France.
1st SFG (A) conducts special operations throughout the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility to support command objectives and U.S. national interests. The group maintains and employs units capable of executing the full spectrum of special operations at a moment’s notice with allies, partners, and the joint force.
