Spc. Kobe Billman, left, serves as a medic supporting the 289th Military Police Company during patrols on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., as part of the D.C. Safe initiative Dec. 12, 2025.
“Joining the military is something I always wanted to do,” Billman said. “I knew from a young age. I grew up near a military base in Utah, and seeing those Soldiers every day really made me want to serve my country. I have intense pride and patriotism for this country, and I just want to help my people.”
Billman chose the medical field for a reason. “I wanted to be [...] there for my guys, for my brothers-in-arms. That’s really important to me. When you see a medic running toward you, you know you’re in good hands.”
Although assigned to the 858th Engineer Company back home in Mississippi, Billman is currently tasked with the 289th, supporting their patrols around the Washington Monument.
