A CH-47 Chinook helicopter assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment gains altitude for a military free-fall pass during Menton Week at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Dec. 3, 2025. The 1st SFG (A) hosts the annual event in commemoration of the First Special Service Force, the predecessor to modern Special Forces, which was disbanded in Menton, France.
1st SFG (A) conducts special operations throughout the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility to support command objectives and U.S. national interests. The group maintains and employs units capable of executing the full spectrum of special operations at a moment’s notice with allies, partners, and the joint force.
