A 25mm chain gun discharges rounds during a live-fire exercise aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Momsen (DDG 92). The live-fire exercise was held in support of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training Indonesia 2013. More than 1,000 sailors and Marines are participating in CARAT Indonesia along with U.S. Navy ships: the salvage and recovery vessel USNS Safeguard (T-ARS 50) with embarked Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 1, the amphibious dock and landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46), and Momsen. CARAT is a series of bilateral military exercises between the U.S. Navy and the armed forces of Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Timor Leste.
