Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and Camp Lemonnier paid tribute to their fallen comrades by participating in 12-hour Memorial Day flag relay run May 26-27 at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. Runners carried an American and Joint Service flag on a 1.5 mile course started by Maj. Gen. Terry Ferrell, commander of CJTF-HOA and Sgt. Maj. Gary Smith, command sergeant major of CJTF-HOA at 8 p.m., May 26. Teams ran throughout the night until the final team finished at approximately 7:45 a.m. There was a brief moment of silence and prayer to honor the fallen, then the flag carried on the run was raised for colors.
