U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District personnel, along with members of the El Paso Veterans Administration Health Care System, Clark Construction Group, and SmithGroup+HKS pose with the beam used in the topping off ceremony for the VA Health Care Center at Fort Bliss. In just over six months, more than 4,200 pieces of steel weighing over 3,500 tons were placed to build the skeleton of the new health care center. When complete, the health care center will provide primary and specialty care, mental health services, and ambulatory surgery to our nation’s veterans living in the El Paso area. The topping off ceremony is a decades-old construction tradition, a milestone marking the placement of the final structural beam.
