    Fort Knox Garrison Commander Col. David Holstead and Command Sgt. Maj. Alex Licea on Nov. 19, 2025, join Lieutenant Col. Ulrich Humpert and Sgt. Maj. Karl-Heinz Nelles, German Army liaison officers with the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning, Georgia, in paying respects to 17 German prisoners of war interred at Fort Knox, Kentucky. As part of the annual Volkstrauertag, or National Day of German Mourning, the pair traveled to Post Cemetery, one of several stops around the nation.
