Naval Hospital Bremerton Industrial Hygiene staff performed lead sampling assessment at Naval Base Kitsap Bangor Small Arms Training Center in their periodic effort to ensure personnel using the center are protected from lead exposure.
[Clockwise] Leaving no surface undone…Ms. Christina Cameron, staff industrial hygienist and Lt. j.g. Michael Coulson, Industrial Hygiene Officer, take lead samplings of surfaces to ensure the spaces outside of the small arms firing range have not been contaminated with lead. Such precise Industrial Hygiene program efforts are specifically designed to monitor, test, and evaluate for any lead contamination.
Lt. John Sodusta, Industrial Hygiene Officer, handles lead wipe sampling on classroom tables associated with the Small Arms Training Center to safeguard any surface area which feasibly could harbor any type of lead-based contaminant.
Coulson performs lead wipe sampling on a administration support table as the Industrial Hygiene teams thoroughly inspects all surface areas. Sodusta also took a lead wipe sampling of a door at the Small Arms Training Center. “Preventing lead exposure to the military community ensures a healthy and operationally ready force,” stated Lt. Cmdr. Jason Woolery, NHB Industrial Hygiene Department Head (Official Navy courtesy photos).
