On September 2nd, 2025, the USNMR Col. Jared D. Thompson, joined other national military representatives, local leaders, and the Mayor of Mons to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Liberation of Territory. The representatives and local leaders visited multiple tributary sites in Mons, Belgium. Through a wreath-laying ceremony, Col. Thompson honored the brave service members who fought to liberate Belgium during World War II. Mons was the first major city to be liberated in Belgium on September 2nd, 1944.
