U.S. Marine Corps Col. William Gorsuch, chief of staff with Security Battalion, signs a proclamation during Fire Prevention Week 2025 at Lejeune Field on Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, Oct. 6, 2025. The proclamation brings recognition to Quantico Fire and Emergency Services’ dedication to safety and security of all those visiting and living aboard MCB Quantico. Commemorating the great Chicago fire of 1871, Fire Prevention week is observed annually by the National Fire Protection Association to educate the public on fire safety and prevention strategies in order to reduce the risk of fire-related injuries and deaths.
