The Pikes Peak Ranger District of the Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands conducts the Crystal Reservoir prescribed burn near Teller County Colorado on May 16, 2025. Crews consisted of firefighters from the US Forest Service, Colorado Springs Utilities, NE Teller County Fire Rescue, Green Mountain Falls Fire Department and the Pikes Peak Ranger District. Prescribed fires are carefully planned and managed to lessen the risk and impacts of high-intensity wildfires while helping to sustain diverse wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities and healthy watersheds.
