U.S. Special Operations Command Europe Deputy Commander, Navy Capt. Neil M. Guinan, along with senior servicemembers from SOCEUR present a donation check of $300 to Vivian L. Wilson, manager of the Landstuhl Fisher Houses in honor of Adm. James Stavridis and his wife Laura, May 16, 2013 at the Fisher House in Landstuhl, Germany. The SOCEUR community wanted to give thanks to Stavridis, who relinquished command of U.S. European Command last week, and his wife, for their leadership and support over the last 4 years. The Fisher Houses in Landstuhl provide a “home away from home,” for families and patients receiving medial care at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. Wilson said donations like these help to keep the Fisher Houses running and during his tenure Adm. Stavridis helped the Fisher Houses at Landstuhl. “Through his position he was able to raise awareness for us and visited the families here to pay his respects.” Wilson added that the donation will be used by the Landstuhl Fisher Houses to continue to provide the highest quality of life they can to the family members of wounded warriors, as a significant portion of their funding comes through charitable donations like these. “Our main objective is to provide comfort and care for our greatest treasure, the American Servicemember,” Wilson said.
