U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Nick Brown, left, and Sgt. Maj. Sherri Cook, right, the commanding general and command senior enlisted leader of Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, along with representatives from MCCS Camp Pendleton, Public Works Department Camp Pendleton, and Facilities Engineering and Acquisitors Division MCB Camp Pendleton, participate in the Canyon View Child Development Center Groundbreaking Ceremony at MCB Camp Pendleton, California, Sept. 15, 2025. The new facility will accommodate 300 children across 26 classrooms and is the first CDC on MCB Camp Pendleton specifically designed to serve a large infant population. Eleven of the classrooms will be dedicated to infant care, providing 88 spaces for our youngest children. This project stands as a testament to the hard work and commitment to reducing the childcare waitlist - a critical quality-of-life issue impacting Marines, Sailors, and their families aboard the installation.
