Illinois Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Jorge Fonseca, the Illinois National Guard Director of the Joint Staff, directs Egyptian Army Maj. Gen. Sherif Al-Araishi, the Director of the Military Training Authority, to the different “higher command” staff sections on Sept. 3 prior to the Command Post Exercise (CPX) during Bright Star 25 at Mohamed Naguib Military Base, Egypt. Fonseca is filling the role of the U.S. Higher Command Commander during the CPX working side-by-side with his Egyptian Army counterpart, Brig. Gen. Ismail Ahmed. The exercise brings together forces from across the globe, underscoring the United States' enduring commitment to working alongside Egypt and partner nations to strengthen collective security and promote regional stability.
