PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (Sept. 5, 2025) – Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Maritime Staff Office Rear Adm. Naoya Hoshi receives a brief from Duane Domingo, a general engineer at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, on the possible application of 3D-printed parts during a recent tour of the shipyard on Sept. 5, 2025. Hoshi visited PHNSY & IMF to observe and discuss shipyard surface maintenance. PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight” by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Strategically located in the heart of the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East. (U.S. Navy photo by Kenny Jones)
