    Naval Air Facility Atsugi

    NAVAL AIR FACILITY ATSUGI, Japan (Sep. 11, 2025) - Two Naval Air Facility (NAF) Atsugi deputy fire chiefs assigned to Commander, Navy Region Japan Fire & Emergency Services walk with the U.S. flag and unit flag during the 9/11 Flag Relay Event. The event was hosted by NAF Atsugi’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) and included one hour time slots from 0800-1800 where NAF Atsugi residents took turns parading the colors around the base.

    "We are doing this [Flag Relay] for those who gave thier lives to help others," said Deputy Chief Dionne, one of the deputy chiefs in the photo, "this is our way to represent and honor them."

    NAF Atsugi supports the combat readiness of Commander, Fleet Air Western Pacific, Commander, Carrier Air Wing FIVE (CVW) 5, Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 51 and 23 other tenant commands, and provides logistic support, coordination, and services to units assigned to the Western Pacific.(U.S. Navy photo by Taylor Ardito)
