GREAT LAKES, Ill (Sep. 4. 2025) ¬– Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jim Kilby hands a Navy ballcap to a Sailor during the capping ceremony at Recruit Training Command (RTC). The capping ceremony marks recruits becoming Sailors at the end of RTC’s crucible event, Battle Stations.Training at RTC is approximately nine weeks, and all enlistees in the U.S. Navy begin their careers at the command.
