JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON - (Aug. 20, 2025) – Dr. Heuy-Ching Wang (center), director, Combat Casualty Care and Operational Medicine, Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio, speaks with U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonels Mark Chappell and Matthew Johnson assigned to U.S Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery’s Medical Information and Research and Development directorate (BUMED-N2) at the Tri-Service Research Laboratory. Topics of discussion included, but not limited to, research priorities, transparency within research, effective communication, knowledge development, and future of artificial intelligence in research. BUMED-N2 is responsible for research and development programs, medical information systems, and research integrity and responsible conduct of research (RCR) education within Navy Medicine. NAMRU San Antonio, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development (NMR&D), conducts gap-driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research in support of Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality while engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
