    JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON - (Aug. 20, 2025) – U.S. Army Lt. Col. Matthew Johnson, assigned to U.S Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery’s Medical Information and Research and Development directorate (BUMED-N2), joined by U.S. Army Lt. Col. Mark Chappell (BUMED N-2), speaks with leadership and principal investigators of Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio at the Tri-Service Research Laboratory. Topics of discussion included, but not limited to, research priorities, transparency within research, effective communication, knowledge development, and future of artificial intelligence in research. BUMED-N2 is responsible for research and development programs, medical information systems, and research integrity and responsible conduct of research (RCR) education within Navy Medicine. NAMRU San Antonio, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development (NMR&D), conducts gap-driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research in support of Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality while engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
