Bentley Jerrett, 4, poses with his back-to-school goodie bag from the Corvettes & Kids Fun Day event Aug. 2, 2025, at West Fort Hood Express at Fort Hood, Texas. Beyond handing out school supplies, Army and Air Force Exchange Service also put together a giveaway for the families, where children could win packed backpacks and a gift basket. The Mid Texas Corvette Club, a nonprofit organization, brought their cars for children and parents to check out, as well as donated school supplies to hand out, including colored pencils, scissors and notebooks, to the AAFES-hosted event. AAFES added goodies to give out as well. “Our mission is to take care of the kids in the community and so that’s what we do,” said Samuel Blanks, president of the Mid Texas Corvette Club. “We are all veterans. We all have served, so we know what some of the needs are. So we’re just here to give back. It’s an awesome feeling.” (U.S. Army photo by Ayumi Davis, Fort Hood Public Affairs)
