Tanner Jernigan is a coastal engineer at ERDC’s Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory. On March 28, he helped rescue three children from rough waves and surf near a beach on Tybee Island, Georgia. The wakes were created by a large vessel in the Port of Savannah shipping channel located just north of the island.
