A win for workforce development! The Waypoints Implementation Team has actively collaborated with all NNSY codes to ensure a seamless transition from the Automated Training Management System (ATMS) to Waypoints for training and workforce development. A key initiative involved standardizing Production Training (Code 900T) employee certification expiration dates to the end of each month instead of supervisors having to verify weekly, bringing better consistency to the process and helping to save valuable time for supervisors.
While contending with weekly verifications of employee qualifications, Temporary Services (Code 990) Superintendent Larry Bowers proposed the idea of moving to monthly to the shipyard’s Department Head Group (DHG), and in turn NNSY’s Production Resources Training Division (Code 900T) put into action. “I have been looking for ways to make the first line supervisors’ jobs a little easier,” Bowers said.
To support this, the Waypoints Certification Team also created a video tutorial demonstrating how each code can align their past-due and duration dates with this new month-end standard. Code 900T is tracking this progress via an Excel spreadsheet that feeds into a Power BI dashboard, making the data readily visible to all code training Points of Contact (POCs) and owners. Great job team!
