Appointing Authority for the Office of Military Commissions John Altenburg Jr. conducts a Pentagon briefing on Aug. 17, 2004, on the upcoming preliminary hearings for military commissions. The preliminary hearings will convene next week at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The commissions will try individuals accused of violations of the law of war.
