U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart Command Sgt. Maj. Chris Melendez did his part by donating blood to the Department of Defense's Armed Services Blood Program on June 9, 2025 at the Panzer Fitness Center. Donations to the ASBP maintain the military's own blood supply and are critically needed to meet mission requirements for U.S. European Command, U.S. Africa Command, U.S. Central Command, and U.S. Special Operations Command. Blood collected at the two-day drive is used to directly treat U.S. and other NATO casualties in forward-deployed locations and to save the lives of patients in military medical facilities around the world. The blood drive was co-sponsored by the American Red Cross Stuttgart Station, Better Opportunities for Single Servicemembers, Omega Psi Phi, and Harold Washington Military Lodge 128.
