U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Mandy Blomgren, 9th Physiological Support Squadron U-2 mission support technician, inspects a RQ225 parachute used for the U-2 Dragon Lady on January 22, 2024 at Beale Air Force Base, California. The RQ225 parachute is unique to the U-2 Dragon Lady and only packed at Beale. The canopy of the parachute is 35ft in diameter with 30 suspension lines making it one of the largest ejection seat parachutes in order to accommodate the added weight of the high altitude pressure suit worn by U-2 pilots, and a possible high altitude opening.
