(July 18, 2025) – The official party listens to remarks by Scott Luers, a retired Navy captain, during a change of command ceremony held at the base chapel onboard Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, July 18, 2025. During the ceremony, Cmdr. Vincent McCall relieved Cmdr. Derek Goebel as commanding officer of the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Nevada (SSBN 733) Blue Crew. Nevada is assigned to Submarine Group (SUBGRU) 9 which exercises administrative and operational control authority for assigned submarine commands and units in the Pacific Northwest providing oversight for shipboard training, personnel, supply and material readiness of SSBNs and their crews.
