NORFOLK, Va. (July 17, 2025) – Capt. Steven M. Thomas, outgoing commander of Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Atlantic (CHSCWL), is doused with water by family members and squadron personnel during a traditional “wetting down” following the aerial change of command ceremony at Naval Station Norfolk. The long-standing Navy tradition celebrates a departing leader’s service and contributions. CHSCWL provides operational oversight, training, and readiness support for east coast-based helicopter sea combat squadrons deploying worldwide in support of maritime operations.
