Members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District join members of Reclamation Districts, Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, and The Department of Water Resources, for a tour of flood control features such as the Yolo Bypass, Fremont Weir, Feather River/Sutter Bypass, and several others on July 8, 2025. The Yolo Bypass, located within Yolo County, California, is a large floodplain area designed to divert floodwaters from the Sacramento River away from Sacramento and other nearby communities. The Yolo Bypass receives water from the Feather River during times of high flow. The Feather River is one of the major rivers that contribute to the flooding that the Yolo Bypass is designed to manage. When the Sacramento and Feather Rivers reach high levels, water flows over weirs and into the bypass. The Fremont Weir, at the northern end of the bypass, allows water from the Sacramento and Feather Rivers to overflow into the bypass when river levels are high.
