U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, biologist Anna Cade and Senior Fish and Wildlife Biologist Catherine Breaux utilize the Wet Pine Flatwood Rapid Assessment, specifically developed by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Wetlands Team. Cade checks off the plants that Breaux discovers. The ERDC Wetlands Team develops rapid assessments tailored to the needs of their State, Federal, and local partners. This research is funded in collaboration by the USFWS and the USACE New Orleans District. Natural resource assessments support the agency's execution of the Clean Water Act and associated statutes.
