Sergeant Nickolas Auvil, a radio operator and a Martinsville, Ill., native, climbs a 150-foot tower to conduct preventative maintenance at the 8th Communications Battalion compound at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, April 18. Four Marines are responsible for keeping Internet and phone communications running for Camp Leatherneck, Camp Dwyer and a myriad of other patrol and forward operating bases in Helmand and Nimroz Provinces. After a recent thunderstorm, the Marines climbed the 150-foot tall tower to help restore communications.
