Sept. 19 is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. More than 88,000 Americans still are missing from World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, the Vietnam War and the 1991 Gulf War. More than 600 U.S. specialists work every day around the world to locate and identify them. Since the end of the Vietnam War, U.S. teams have located and identified more than 700 Americans who were missing as a result of the Vietnam War.
