The traditional ornamental tributes to U.S. service members hang from the official White House tree in the oval-shaped Blue Room amid 2,000 ornaments, which largely comprise holiday cards created by service members' children, in addition to
photos of deployment homecomings and fabric ornaments with the silhouettes of each state and territory. The 18 1/2-feet-high Douglas fir is from Lehighton, Pa. First Lady Michelle Obama invited military families to become the first to view this year's holiday decorations at the White House, which were arranged by more than 80 volunteers who began the project the day after Thanksgiving. Obama told the families she was honored and grateful to have them come to the White House to
