Support divers guide Javelin 2.0 into position at the start of a race at the 18th International Submarine Races (ISR), hosted at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division from June 23-27, 2025. The carbon fiber and foam core vessel was built in the Barone family’s garage and piloted by 16-year-old Quinn Barone. The ISR serve as a real-world crucible for aspiring naval engineers, providing hands-on problem-solving opportunities in a competition that develops critical domestic scientific and engineering talent for the Navy and America's Maritime Industrial Base. Carderock, the Navy's ship design and innovation powerhouse, provides the technical foundation for the future fleet through world-class research, development, and testing.
