JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Hatakaze-class, guided-missile destroyer JS Shimakaze (TV 3521) arrives at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam to begin a port visit, June 25, 2025. Shimakaze is assigned to the Japan Training Squadron (JTS), which is conducting an annual training cruise and also comprises the JTS flagship JS Kashima (TV 3508). Japan is a close ally to the United States and this alliance serves as the cornerstone of regional peace, security and prosperity in the Pacific Fleet area of responsibility.
