U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Kyle Lumabao, an aviation maintenance data specialist assigned to Fleet Readiness Center East, digs out roots from between concrete during a volunteer event at the Veterans Employment Base Camp and Organic Gardens (VEBCOG) in New Bern, North Carolina, June 21, 2025. Since 2018, the Single Marine Program has organized many volunteer events with VEBCOG, a non-profit organization ran by veterans who aim to employ underemployed veterans, enhance their skillset and overall well-being to return more employable veterans back to the community. Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point service members volunteer routinely with the non-profit organization to reinforce the installation’s enduring commitment to building a network of productive citizens in all phases of their active-duty service and post-active-duty service life.
