Charred trees and burned down structures are all that remains of this area after fire broke out in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles and the unincorporated community of Altadena, killing at least 28 people and destroying more than 16,000 structures, Jan. 07, 2025.
The. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been tasked with removing the fire debris in both Altadena and Pacific Palisades with teams from across the enterprise traveling to California to support the mission. Several U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center employees have volunteered their time and expertise hoping to make tangible impact in the communities affected by disaster.
