250610-N-JM360-1003 CHINHAE, South Korea (Jun. 10, 2025) – Utilitiesman 3rd Class Edwin Melgar, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3, is mastering his breath-hold techniques as he trains for the demanding challenges of the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center. Each session pushes his lung capacity, mental focus, and underwater control to new heights—crucial skills for thriving in one of the military’s toughest underwater programs. NMCB-3 serves as the stand-in engineering force for Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, executing high-quality construction operations, activities, and investments, and is capable at the unit-of-action level to support major combat operations in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of operations with efficient airfield, waterfront, and advanced base construction.
