U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, N.Y., the fourth-oldest active Army installation, marked its 200th anniversary June 13 with a concert, special enlistment ceremony, music, and fireworks show, leading into the U.S. Army's 250th birthday June 14.
Established in 1825, the installation played a critical role in national defense, evolving from a harbor defense site to a key military hub supporting Defense Department personnel, the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. It remains vital to New York City, continuing its legacy of protecting the city's people, land and commerce while shaping the future of military service.
