Members of the Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA) Chapter 249 – El Paso, Texas pose for a group photo in front of the main stage during the U.S. Army's 250th Birthday Splash Bash celebration at Freedom Crossing, Fort Bliss, June 14, 2025. The chapter was invited as honored guests for their continued service, advocacy, and sacrifice. The event included a ceremonial cake cutting, live entertainment by the 1st Armored Division Band, and remarks from Fort Bliss and 1AD leadership.
Led by KWVA Chapter 249 President Wayne Gilbert, the veterans were recognized by Soldiers and community members alike as a living legacy of commitment and courage.
“Events like this remind us that the Army’s legacy lives in those who came before us—and continues through every Soldier who wears the uniform today,” said Brig. Gen. Rory A. Crooks, Deputy Commanding General of Operations of the1st Armored Division.
